The late-payment escalation ladder: informal, formal, legal

A structured, three-stage process for handling a rent payment that's gone unpaid, entirely at your pace.

The three stages

When a payment is late, you can start an escalation from the rental overview or payments tab, moving through three stages at your own pace: informal (a friendly nudge), formal (generates a "requerimiento de pago" — a formal payment demand document — for you to send), and legal (marks that you're referring the matter to legal action). Each stage you take is logged to the rental's communication history, so there's a clear record of what was done and when.

Keyio never advances a stage automatically — you choose when to move from informal to formal to legal, and you can stop at any stage once the tenant pays.

The formal-stage document is generated using the same document engine as contracts, but Keyio doesn't provide legal advice — for the legal stage, you'll typically want to involve an actual lawyer or gestor before proceeding.
