Bring your properties from a spreadsheet

Import the properties and running leases you keep in Excel or a CSV in one go, reviewing everything before it is saved.

Importing

Use one row per property, or one row per lease if a property has several (rooms, or a new tenant). Keyio recognises the usual column titles — property, address, city, type, tenant, ID number, email, phone, rent, deposit, start and end date — and you can correct which column is which. If you start from scratch, download the template from the import window.

  1. 1On your dashboard, click "Import from a spreadsheet" (or offer it in the setup when you say you have several properties).
  2. 2Choose the .xlsx, .xls or .csv file — or paste the rows copied from your spreadsheet, header row included.
  3. 3Check the columns Keyio recognised, and the list of what will be created. Untick anything you do not want.
  4. 4Confirm you may enter the tenants' details and click Import.

What Keyio does with your rows

A property already in Keyio (same name or address) is not created again: its leases are added to it, and a lease overlapping one it already has is left unticked. Rows without a property, such as totals, are skipped. A lease that already ended is left unticked too.

A lease with no end date gets the end of the yearly term running today — check it afterwards. A rent marked as yearly is divided by 12.

Rent before this month is taken as collected, so nothing shows as owed from before you used Keyio. With a "Paid until" column (a month such as 09/2026, or a date), rent is followed from the month after it instead, so any month unpaid since then shows as owed. Tenant details are encrypted like any other lease.

Only as many new properties as your plan holds are created; the rest are shown greyed out.
